I Heart Faces Pet Edition

Sam. She loves the snow and when we get a good one, she can be found running, burrowing, and rolling in it. I think the kids caught her attention here. I love the snow clinging to her face.

I (Heart) Faces Pouting Entry

Boy, this week's contest was a hard one for me! I had 2 super pouting pics...and by "super" I mean that they really captured the moment and made me laugh! This is #5 in our family, and she tries this look frequently in an attempt to get what she wants!

My head is swimming...

With all things photography! I stumbled on this great new website called IHEARTFACES.com. It's an incredible little ditty with questions, answers, tips, lots of great photographs, and weekly contests. I've been spending every free moment since my discovery checking out the photographs and websites of the super talented people who play along.

I even found a chance to win a new hat...click here and see! While you are there...marvel at how crisp the eyes are in her photographs. It's my new project...eyes.

And because I love hats so much....

I HEART Faces *Adult Entry

This is my dad. He has the most beautiful blue eyes, but in this shot you couldn't really see them, so I chose to go black and white. That's his mom in the background. She's 89. This was a test shot while I was trying to get my light setting correct at my sister's wedding reception. Dad was at the next table chatting with his sisters and mom. It's rare they all get together like that - I have many shots of all of them just laughing and kicking up that night!

If you haven't already...you simply must stop by IHeartFaces.com and check out all of the natural light photos this week - there are many great ones!

The Eyes I Fell in Love With

So I won't tell you that I was trying to get my settings "just right" at my sister's wedding reception. It was in a white tent as the summer sun was setting. Constantly changing conditions. My sweet honey was listening intently to someone and I caught this shot. Love that face.

My Dad

Isn't he handsome? I took this one "no flash" during my sister's wedding reception last summer. That's my dad's mom behind him. I love the life you can see in his face. There are years of hard work, faithful friendship, and many laughs in that face. Another good choice for a "no flash" contest on IHEARTFACES. Am I obsessed? I might be.

Here's a different take

on the "no flash." This is not the most technically correct photo I've done, but I still love the glow of our little marshmellow fire. Hmmm. Memories of summer vacation.

Or maybe this one

Last fall I began my love affair with the last light of the day. I literally threw the kids in the car one evening and took off for a deserted country road. I found this lovely split-rail fence and we started shooting. This was just moments before the sun sunk below the horizon. I love that dreamy-last-bit-of-sun glow. If IHEARTFACES ever does another "no flash" contest...

If I had

If I had read the contest correctly for this week's IHEARTFACES, I might have chosen this picture for natural light. I love his intensity.

I (heart) Faces Pouting Entry

Okay - I first must tell you that I have laughed and laughed while trying to find a photo to enter in this week's I HEART PHOTO contest. The theme is pouting and must use all natural light. Those of you who know my girls know that I had tons of them to choose from! I started out with one particular photo in mind, then kept coming to others. This one has to be one of my favorites. We took it last fall at a local park and despite what it looks like, we had a blast!

Hop on over to Iheartfaces.blogspot.com and check out the other great entries this week!

UPDATE: Okay - so I messed up! Hey - it's only my second time entering the contest! This week is actually JUST no flash - pouting is next week! Oh well - guess I'll pull out another pouting pic next week!

I Heart Faces Green Entry

This was taken during his Incredible Hulk phase. We went everywhere...library, grocery store, playground...and he was the hulk. Sometimes he wore his red rain boots too. Four was a fun age.
